This is one of my absolute most favorite heritage breeds ever of all time! They are a gorgeous dual purpose breed. The hens lay an abundance of eggs, roughly 250 eggs per year. Roosters normally weigh in at 7 to 9 pounds and hens at about 5 to 6 pounds. They are extremely sweet, gentle birds that will use you as a roost bar if you spend any time in their runs. They are not flighty and don't take up a lot of space. They lay a nicely bloomed tinted to tan egg that appears pink. Some can even be speckled! They are a joy have in any basket and backyard.
